Description of program:ECPP (aka Section 23/Day Treatment Program) provides critical support to meet the needs of children and youth who cannot attend school due to their primary need for care, treatment, and/or other rehabilitation services. ECPP facilitates the transition to future educational success.
Program duration:A few weeks, up to 12 months maximum
What to expect:ECPP should be individualized, and have four essential components:
1. Instruction/Intervention
2. Assessment/Evaluation
3. Reporting on educational achievement
4. Transition planning
Parents/Guardians are involved in Review meetings.
Discharge process:Student transitions to their home school are expected to occur at the beginning of the new term/semester Plan of Care meeting, or at a time most appropriate to meet the needs of the youth (i.e. March Break). An extended stay in the ECPP program may be considered if the SBT determines this is the best option for the youth. Final approval for an extension shall be granted by the System Coordinator of Student Support Services.
