A Word From Our President

January 2024

James Pollock – Board President

The Board of Directors of Laurencrest Youth Services are thrilled to formally announce a significant milestone in the growth and development of our organization. As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we want to express our gratitude to Mr. Dan O’Rourke, who has played a pivotal role in the success and growth of Laurencrest. After 43 years of service, we wish him the very best as he transitions into retirement.

After an extensive search, we are delighted to welcome Ms. Megan Laroche as our new Executive Director. Megan’s previous experience and commitment to our mission of helping vulnerable youth and families in our community is steadfast. Her proven leadership in the non-profit sector, combined with her credentials and passion for community empowerment, makes her an ideal fit for our organization.

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of Laurencrest Youth Services Inc. With a decade of diverse leadership in non-profit and community sectors, my expertise is rooted in a robust academic background, including a Master’s in Business Administration and on-going studies in Social Work. I look forward to leading Laurencrest, with the support of our dedicated staff and Board, fostering positive transformations and continued success in our mission to assist others in helping themselves.

Ms. Megan Laroche

June 2023

As outgoing President of the Board here at Laurencrest, I would first off like to acknowledge the hard-work and dedication of the Board of Directors and our Executive Director Dan over the past year. Laurencrest continues to evolve our presence in the Community, to ensure we provide programming to those most vulnerable, our Youth. I am so proud to be part of this Board. We have come together
through some incredibly challenging times, collaborated with each other, listened to opinions, shared our thoughts, and always kept our vision of Laurencrest and its purpose top of mind.
Thank you again for all you do, I look forward to continuing as a Board Member in 2023-2024.

June 2022

As President of the Board, I would like to take this time to acknowledge the hard work of the Executive Director, staff, and all Board Members.   As a Board, we have persevered through some challenging times, a shift in our Mandate with a greater focus on our Community Outreach programs.

I personally have worked closely with Dan this year, and his professionalism and ability to Pivot in critical times effectively should be highly commended.

We together are positively moving forward post pandemic, and we are all committed to ensure the success of Laurencrest and our ability to support those most vulnerable, our Youth.  I am very proud to be part of this Board of Directors.

Dianne Nixon – Board President

June 2020

I would like to take this time to thank the Staff and Management at Laurencrest for all their hard work this past year.  As we all know 2020 has presented several challenges in regards to Government funding concerns and the Covid-19 pandemic. As a board we could not be prouder of how each and every staff member rose to the occasion with a positive attitude.  They effectively managed through the anxiety and adjustments that were necessary to ensure Staff and Clients’ safety through this pandemic and remained fiscally responsible working within budgets.

The community-based programs have significantly helped a number of young people and families, and Laurencrest continues to expand their programming to the evolving needs of our community. We have effectively diversified the services provided and the Executive Team and Board of Directors should be commended for their forward-thinking approach.

I personally am very proud to be the Board President, and I thank you all for your commitment to Laurencrest and the young people we serve. Together we are all making a difference.
